On a whim I bought a butter churner and thought I’d have at making butter … cause buying butter is so very hard!
You don’t actually need any equipment, although it does make it easier ~ all you actually need to do is to over-whip whipping cream, to the point where it separates ~ you’re left with butter and buttermilk (which you can use for baking). You need to keep “washing-out” the last remnants of the buttermilk, otherwise your butter will be bitter. Adding salt helps to ensure it lasts longer … and also makes it taste even more delicious!
It tastes much lighter than shop bought butter ~ I’m quietly chuffed… I can’t believe how easy it is to make butter!
